We are recruiting full and part time registered nurses to work at our Ullenwood, Gloucester or Cheltenham locations. You will be supporting learners with complex disabilities and caring for the physical and mental welling of young adults who may present with respiratory, diabetes, epilepsy and other associated requirements.
Working alongside well trained care staff you will be responsible for the health care of around 20 learners or residents. The role includes developing comprehensive health plans, medical procedures and protocols and liaising with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams. You will be supporting and developing non-qualified staff in the medication processes and empowering learners and residents to develop skills and knowledge in relation to their wellbeing. Management of medication, liaising with GP’s, pharmacy and consultants is part of the Nurse role at National Star. You will be developed and supported in all aspects of your role by the Residential Manager (not necessarily nurse qualified).
At Ullenwood there can be over 100 learners on site at any time, with 4 nurses on duty during the day, meaning you could be called to administer emergency care to someone less familiar to you.
If you are an autonomous, confident and competent practitioner, who enjoys working in a busy and varied setting this could be the perfect role for you. National Star will support revalidation and offers excellent internal and external training opportunities. National Star offer an excellent working environment, facilities and equipment and the experience of working for an outstanding provider, both with Ofsted and CQC.
There are full time and part time vacancies available. All nurses work shift patterns that include 7am early starts, 9pm late finishes and working every other weekend.
Interviews will take place throughout the advertising period. Please detail in your application the hours you are looking for (hours per week and either Day or Night role).
At National Star, we know the value of a diverse workforce, and welcome applications from all areas of the community. This includes those with disabilities, and we are a proud Disability Confident employer and are committed to providing equal opportunities. In 2012 National Star received an 'Outstanding' from Ofsted.
Please note that all applicants will be expected to undertake a DBS Disclosure, and undergo the necessary employer checks. The level of disclosure to be applied for will be dependent on your job role and will be discussed with you during the recruitment process but is usually an enhanced level. Where appropriate, the adult and child barred lists will be checked and we will not employ anyone who appears on either of those registers.
We prefer people to submit an online application as this helps support the charity in saving money. If you have a disability and need to apply using an alternative format, or if you have any technical problems with our recruitment system, please call the HR Team on 01242 527631 or email email@example.com.
All future correspondence with you will be via email (application acknowledgement, invitation to interview etc). Please check your email regularly.
