We are currently recruiting for a Cook to work at our residential site in Gloucester. We are recruiting on a full time permanent basis of 40 hours per week. These hours can include shift work, evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities of the Cook will include:
Work with residents, students and Facilitators to write menus which are healthy, nutritious and cost effective.
·Plan food preparation to the abilities of residents and/or staff on duty.
·Prepare food for or alongside students/residents
·Ensure that portion sizes meet student/resident requirements
·Ensure any special dietary requirements are met
·Ensure correct stock rotation is carried out. Ensure cost efficient ordering of food supplies.
·Ensure good standards of hygiene and cleanliness are adhered to in line with current legislation and guidance from environmental health and care standards.
·Maintain records including fridge temperatures, risk assessment, menu alterations and other environmental or inspection requirements. Raising any errors or additional work needed with the residential manager immediately.
The successful Cook will have:
Experience of food preparation for large or small numbers of people
Experience of budgeting
Experience of ordering food and supplies
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate 706/1/2 or equivalent
Good written English
Able to follow written safety instructions
·Good knowledge of Nutrition
·Able to work on a shift pattern to suit the requirements of the students/residents
