The National Star staff team is a community of people dedicated to supporting people with complex disabilities to achieve their aspirations. We have just agreed a salary increase of 5% across all our jobs from January 2022 to recognise the commitment and dedication of our staff. 
All new staff joining National Star will also be eligible to receive a welcome bonus of up to £250 (pro-rata) upon successful completion of their probation.

The Role: 

Registered Nurse – Full time and Part time

We are recruiting registered nurses to work at our Main Site in Ullenwood on the outskirts of Cheltenham (Full and Part time) and at our long term residential sites in central Cheltenham and Gloucester (Part time). You will be supporting learners with complex disabilities and caring for the physical and mental wellbeing of young adults who may present with respiratory, diabetes, epilepsy and other associated requirements.

 

Working alongside well trained care staff you will be responsible for the health care of learners or residents within the accommodation. The role includes developing comprehensive health plans, medical procedures and protocols and liaising with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams. You will be supporting and developing non-qualified staff in the medication processes and empowering learners and residents to develop skills and knowledge in relation to their wellbeing. Management of medication, liaising with GPs, pharmacy and consultants is part of the Nurse role at National Star.

 

As a proactive and creative practitioner you will have a minimum of 1 years post registration experience in a relevant/related sphere of practice - experience of respiratory care and management of Tracheostomy/Laryngectomy and/or working with people with physical disabilities and associated learning difficulties would be preferred. You will need the ability to prioritise, managing complex, diverse and competing client requirements and be committed to providing a high quality service to our students and their families.

Our charity runs a specialist independent college for residential and day learners with complex disabilities in Gloucestershire (near Cheltenham) and two further day colleges in Hereford and Wales. We also run supported internships and traineeships, travel training and work in partnership with charities and other organisations across the UK.

We also provide high quality residential long-term living accommodation for young people with disabilities in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Hereford and Malvern.
