National Star College is a specialist further education college for young adults aged 16-25 years with complex physical and learning disabilities. Our staff team is a community of people dedicated to supporting our students to achieve their aspirations.
We have just agreed a salary increase of 5% across all our jobs from January 2022 to recognise the commitment and dedication of our staff.
All new staff joining National Star will also be eligible to receive a welcome bonus of up to £250 (pro-rata) upon successful completion of their probation.
At National Star we recognise that there are a range of issues outside of education that can have an impact on a learner’s life at college. The college’s Emotional Wellbeing Service promotes good mental health and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), supporting learners in getting the most from their social, educational, and life skills programmes.
The Behaviour Support Assistant role is a stepping stone into the Emotional Wellbeing Service with the primary focus on offering administrative assistance, developing resources and working alongside Behaviour Support Practitioners and Therapists to support a specialist caseload of learners who have a range a complex needs and can present with challenging behaviour.
You will be conscientious and innovative in delivering proactive, person-centred approaches to working together with learners. Ideally with a minimum of 12 months experience of working with young people and adults with a learning disability and/or mental health condition you may also have a background in education. You will also demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and on your own initiative alongside a wide variety of professionals from all grades and disciplines in an innovative and dynamic environment.
The salary for this role will be £19,000 rising to £19,950 from January 2022.
