Job Details:

Occupational therapy plays a key role in helping to prepare students at National Star for their developing life of independence.

We’re looking for a number of term-time only senior Occupational Therapists to join our team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to experience occupational therapy within our Ofsted ‘outstanding’ college setting, seeing for yourself how your interventions can help students to develop new skills for life. You will be a creative people person, with bags of enthusiasm to use your professional skills to enhance the lives of students who have big personalities, and even bigger ambitions, to live life to the full.

You will be HCPC registered and have some understanding of complex physical and learning disability. We have dedicated, modern sensory spaces within National Star and use a range of resources, our life skills kitchen and a range of everyday objects to help students to learn and develop new skills.

Your practice will not be limited to our college setting. You will be encouraged to work in the community with individual students to develop their specific skills for the future.

Whether it’s the big moments some of us take for granted or the small triumphs that others wouldn’t expect, together, we focus on what’s possible for every person we support and recognise that the connections we make today are the memories of tomorrow. It’s their life. You make sure they’re busy living it.

You will need to be a self-starter as you will spend time working independently, managing your own caseload. However, you will be part of a wider team of nine occupational therapists across the charity who work closely with other allied healthcare professionals, tutors and education care workers for the benefit of students.

The hours for this role are 44 hours a week, 39 weeks a year.

Please note that all applicants will be expected to undertake a DBS Disclosure, and undergo the necessary employer checks.
