Are you an accomplished staff manager, with experience of working in the care or education sectors? Join the inspirational team at National Star in Hereford as our new Deputy Manager.


More than 30 young people aged 16 – 25 years old with complex disabilities learn with us as day students at National Star in Hereford. With growing student numbers we’re looking to appoint a new Deputy Manager to support the running of the college.


Working alongside the manager you will ensure that the highest standards of care and support is provided to students. A large part of your role will be staff management and dealing with day-to-day operational matters which can range from resource management, risk assessments and liaising with families and other professionals.


You will work closely with all students, including those with communication difficulties, autism and profound and multiple learning difficulties. You will also work closely with their families, listening to and acting on their feedback. Part of your role will include assessing potential new students and supporting their transition into and out of college.


Multi-disciplinary team working is a strength of National Star and you will find yourself working alongside teaching professionals and therapists to plan and undertake student reviews.


A people person, with strong staff management skills, you will be self-motivated and able to use your own initiative. You’re likely to a creative problem-solver, with excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.


We’re anticipating that the successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of care experience and at least one year in a role that includes staff management.

This is a term time only role working 41 hours a week over 40 weeks.  The actual salary for the role will be £23,436 which is 0.93 of the full time equivalent salary (£25,200)

This means in the New Year the salary for this role will increase to £14.07- £14.68 /hr.
