Travel Trainer for Lift Training in Cambridgeshire.
(LEARNING INDEPENDENCE FOR TRAVEL)
Permanent contract, 40 hours per week, Term time (39 weeks).
£24,410.40 paid at £22,178.35 per annum
Being able to travel independently opens up new doors to young people with disabilities. How rewarding would it feel to think you’d played a part in building the travel confidence of a young person so they can travel to college or work on their own?
Join National Star, a leading disability charity, as our new term-time only travel trainer in Cambridgeshire. Working in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council and other service providers you will provide independent travel training to a range of young people with disabilities, so they can use public transport for journeys to school or college. You will join a strong programme and after induction training will be capable of delivering structured 1:1 support.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, creative and, most importantly, excited to be working with young people with a range of disabilities.
It goes without saying that you'll be highly organised, a natural networker with first-class communication skills. Mentoring or training experience is preferred but not essential for this role.
National Star’s travel training project in Cambridgeshire is part of a group of similar projects operated by the charity in areas such as Derbyshire, East Sussex, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire. Our current travel trainers in these areas come from a variety of backgrounds such as education, learner support, care, the police service and youth work.
Due to the nature of the position a flexible approach will be required in terms of start and finish times. The team are based in Cambridgeshire but due to Coronavirus restrictions most work is currently being undertaken at or from home, but you will also need to travel across Cambridgeshire to deliver the service. You will be expected to hold a full driving licence and be prepared to use your own vehicle for business use (appropriate mileage expenses will be paid).
For more information about our programme please contact Sarah Stephenson, Senior Programme Leader
on 07982 071567 or visit www.liftproject.co.uk
Please note that interviews will be held throughout the duration of the advertisement and we may close this vacancy if we have appointed suitable applicants. Please apply early!

Please note that all applicants will be expected to undertake a DBS Disclosure, and undergo the necessary employer checks. The level of disclosure to be applied for will be dependent on your job role and will be discussed with you during the recruitment process but is usually an enhanced level. Where appropriate, the adult and child barred lists will be checked and we will not employ anyone who appears on either of those registers.
