Are you an innovative and creative teaching professional inspired to use your skills to support people with complex physical and learning disabilities?


Join the highly-respected team of Personal Learning Co-ordinator and Tutors at National Star on a maternity cover contract working 22.5 hour a week on a term time only basis. 


It will be your job to design and deliver high quality individual programmes of learning for a small group of young people with complex learning difficulties and disabilities (CLDD) and /or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).


Multi-disciplinary work will be critical in your role so that you can ensure students maximise their learning, boosting their independence and wellbeing to prepare them for life after college.


You will be the key teacher for a small group of students – this approach has proved to be highly successful in terms of helping students with the most complex needs. You will get to know the students really well and there is plenty of scope to develop your teaching practice.


The students you will be working with may be non-verbal, have autism or sensory impairments. They will receive a multi-sensory curriculum and enjoy indoor, outdoor, residential and community learning sessions. You will be supporting students to develop their ability to learn with others and be active in expressing themselves.


It goes without saying that you will be a first-class communicator, who is proactive and forward-thinking with excellent organisational skills.


You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a full teaching qualification (Level Five Diploma in Teacher Education or PGCE). A good standard of maths and English is required for this role.


Knowledge and experience of using the Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA) framework, the tried and tested approach to ensuring the quality of non-accredited learning for students with special educational needs is also required.
