Based at our long term living service - Foundation House in Gloucester, you will be supporting people with complex disabilities to live their lives to the full.
There is no such thing as a typical resident at National Star. They have a range of physical and learning disabilities and different hopes and aspirations for the future. From personalised care to simply being there, you will support the residents to pursue their hobbies, learn life skills such as cooking and laundry and act as a facilitator so they can make the most of their lives.
Your first-class people skills will help you to lead a team of care workers, working together to provide a high standard of individualised care, promoting and encouraging residents personal development. After a comprehensive induction into how we work at National Star, you will be able to work on your own initiative and be able to plan and organise effectively.
We’re anticipating that you will have at least two year’s care experience, ideally with people with a learning and/or physical disability. However it’s not a dealbreaker if your care experience has been working in other care fields and you want to take your career in a different direction. It is likely that you will have a Level 3 in health or social care, or a Level 2 and be willing to study towards your Level 3 qualification on appointment. The post requires shift work, with early shifts starting at 7am and late shifts ending at 10pm and 11pm with alternating weekend working.
