Senior Occupational Therapist - Term time only
Are you a highly specialist Occupational Therapist looking for a good work life balance?
We are looking for a qualified Senior Occupational Therapist who is creative, dynamic and driven to join our friendly, hard-working team at National Star. The role is based at our stunning Ullenwood campus just outside Cheltenham. We can offer term time only contracts, ideally full time but can also consider part time with some flexibility on hours if necessary according to the needs of our students.
Occupational therapy plays a key role in supporting young adult learners who have complex physical and learning disabilities to achieve their goals of independence and progress within their educational outcomes. Most of our students participate in a 3-year education program, giving us the opportunity to build strong relationships, complete a variety of assessments and deliver intervention programmes that enable our young people to make real progress and gain a real sense of achievement.
Ideally you will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience with specialist skills in areas such as sensory Integration and postural management, or with transferable clinical skills that would enable you to support our learners in areas such as paediatrics, neurology, acquired brain injury, autism, complex disability, profound and multiple learning disability.
As a senior member in the team you will have experience of supervising others along with excellent communication skills, to enable you to liaise effectively with other therapy teams, tutors, residential staff, parents and external agencies.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to experience occupational therapy within a college setting, to experience working as an ‘OT’ you were trained to do. We have excellent facilities and a range of resources across the college to help support our leaners development with dedicated spaces such as sensory integration spaces, life skill kitchens a range of treatment rooms. Your practice will not be limited to our college setting. You will be encouraged to work in the community with individual students to develop their specific skills for the future.
We offer an intensive mandatory training induction package to our new starters and there are opportunities to complete internal / external training relevant to our area of practice.
Whether it’s the big moments some of us take for granted or the small triumphs that others wouldn’t expect, together, we focus on what’s possible for every person we support and recognise that the connections we make today are the memories of tomorrow. It’s their life. You make sure they’re busy living it.
